Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.

Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

Sec. 1-197.6. Statutory summary revocation of driving privileges.

The revocation by the Secretary of State of a person's license or privilege to operate a motor vehicle on the public highways for the period provided in Section 6-208.1. Reinstatement after the revocation period shall occur after the person has been approved for reinstatement through an administrative hearing with the Secretary of State, has filed proof of financial responsibility, has paid the reinstatement fee as provided in Section 6-118, and has successfully completed all necessary examinations.  The basis for this revocation of driving privileges shall be the individual's refusal to submit to or failure to complete a chemical test or tests following an arrest for the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, other drugs, or intoxicating compounds, or any combination thereof involving a motor vehicle crash that caused personal injury or death to another, as provided in Section 11-501.1 of this Code.
