Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(20 ILCS 1335/10) Sec. 10. Definitions. As used in this Act: "2-1-1" means the abbreviated dialing code assigned by the Federal Communications Commission on July 21, 2000, for consumer access to community information and referral services. "Department" means the Department of Human Services. "Lead entity" means an Illinois 501(c)(3) non-profit agency or organization designated by the Department to manage use of the 2-1-1 dialing code for the purpose of providing the public access to information about health and human services. "Approved 2-1-1 service provider" means a public or nonprofit agency or other organization designated by the lead entity to provide 2-1-1 services and to be an authorized user of the 2-1-1 dialing code in a 2-1-1 service area. "2-1-1 service area" means an area of Illinois identified by the lead entity as an area within which an approved 2-1-1 service provider is authorized to provide 2-1-1 services. "2-1-1 services" means information and referral services provided through the use of 2-1-1 and intended to promote and provide access to human services, and to aid in disaster response and recovery. "Human services" means services provided by government, nonprofit, or other designated organizations to ensure the health and well-being of Illinois residents. "Human services" includes services designed to provide relief or assistance after a natural or non-natural disaster. "Telecommunications carrier" has the same meaning ascribed to that term in Section 13-202 of the Public Utilities Act. (Source: P.A. 104-138, eff. 8-1-25.) |
