Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.

Sec. 14. Expungement Backlog Accountability Law. (a) On or before August 1 of each year, the Illinois State Police shall report to the Governor, the Attorney General, the Office of the State Appellate Defender, and both houses of the General Assembly the following information for the previous fiscal year: (1) the number of petitions to expunge received by | ||

(3) the number of petitions to seal records received | ||

(4) the number of petitions to seal records to which | ||

(5) the number of orders to expunge received by the | ||

(6) the number of orders to expunge to which the | ||
| ||
(7) the number of orders to expunge records entered | ||
| ||
(8) the number of orders to seal records received by | ||
| ||
(9) the number of orders to seal records to which the | ||
| ||
(10) the number of orders to seal records entered by | ||
| ||
(11) the amount of fees received by the Illinois | ||
| ||
(12) the number of orders to expunge or to seal | ||
| ||
(b) The information reported under this Section shall be made available to the public, at the time it is reported, on the official web site of the Illinois State Police. (c) Upon request of a State's Attorney or the Attorney General, the Illinois State Police shall provide within 90 days a list of all orders to expunge or seal with which the Illinois State Police has not yet complied. This list shall include the date of the order, the name of the petitioner, the case number, and a detailed statement of the basis for non-compliance.
