Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(50 ILCS 750/3) (from Ch. 134, par. 33) (Section scheduled to be repealed on December 31, 2027) Sec. 3. (a) Every local public agency shall be within the jurisdiction of a 9-1-1 system. (b) Within 36 months of the awarding of a contract to a vendor certified under Section 13-900 of the Public Utilities Act to provide next generation 9-1-1 service, every 9-1-1 system in Illinois, except in a municipality with a population over 500,000, shall provide next generation 9-1-1 service. A municipality with a population over 500,000 shall provide next generation 9-1-1 service and shall establish a network-to-network interface with the State. Each party shall build out and pay for the party's portion to interface with the statewide next generation 9-1-1 System by January 1, 2027. (c) Nothing in this Act shall be construed to prohibit or discourage in any way the formation of multijurisdictional or regional systems, and any system established pursuant to this Act may include the territory of more than one public agency or may include a segment of the territory of a public agency.(Source: P.A. 103-366, eff. 1-1-24; 103-563, eff. 11-17-23; 104-204, eff. 8-15-25.) |
