Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(105 ILCS 5/14-19) (This Section may contain text from a Public Act with a delayed effective date) Sec. 14-19. Parental notice of right to be accompanied to meeting and of the IEP facilitation process. The notice provided to a parent or guardian prior to a meeting pursuant to subsection (g) of Section 14-8.02 shall inform the parent or guardian of the parent's or guardian's right to invite other individuals to the meeting to assist the parent or guardian, including individuals who have knowledge or special expertise regarding the child, and advocates for the parent, guardian, or child. The notice shall include a request that the parent or guardian inform the school prior to the meeting if the parent or guardian plans to bring other individuals to the meeting so arrangements can be made to accommodate the additional participants. The State Board of Education shall prepare and distribute to each school district written informational material about the individualized education program (IEP) facilitation process. The material may consist of a one-page document that briefly describes the process and how to request IEP facilitation. The informational material on IEP facilitation shall be disseminated to parents and guardians by schools using the same distribution methods employed to transmit other documents and information related to an IEP meeting to a parent or guardian.(Source: P.A. 104-47, eff. 1-1-26.) |
