Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(110 ILCS 947/65.75) Sec. 65.75. Grant for a person raised by a grandparent. (a) The Commission shall, each year, receive and consider applications for grant assistance under this Section. An applicant is eligible for a grant under this Section if the Commission finds that the applicant: (1) has been in the legal custody of his or her | ||

(2) has graduated from high school with a cumulative | ||

(3) has been recommended for assistance under this | ||

(4) is enrolled in or plans to enroll in an | ||
| ||
(b) Applicants who are determined to be eligible for assistance under this Section shall receive, subject to appropriation, a renewable grant of $1,000 to be applied to tuition and mandatory fees and paid directly to the institution of higher learning at which the applicant is enrolled. However, the total amount of assistance awarded by the Commission under this Section to an individual in any fiscal year, when added to other financial assistance awarded by the Commission to that individual for that fiscal year, must not exceed the cost of attendance at the institution of higher learning at which the student is enrolled. (c) A grant awarded under this Section may be renewed for a total of up to 4 years of full-time enrollment.
