Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(210 ILCS 85/11.10) Sec. 11.10. Certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth; notification. This Section may be referred to as Liam's Law. A hospital having custody of a fetus following a spontaneous fetal death occurring during or after a gestation period of at least 20 completed weeks must notify the gestational parent of the parent's right to receive a certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth as described in Section 20.5 of the Vital Records Act. The Department of Public Health shall develop language on a form to be used for notification under this Section and hospitals shall provide the form to the gestational parent. This section of language shall be known as a "Liam's Law notice". The "Liam's Law notice" shall be available in both English and Spanish.(Source: P.A. 103-948, eff. 7-1-25; 104-417, eff. 8-15-25.) |
