Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(225 ILCS 90/2) (from Ch. 111, par. 4252) (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2031) Sec. 2. Licensure requirement; exempt activities. No person shall after the date of August 31, 1965 begin to practice physical therapy in this State or hold oneself out as being able to practice this profession, unless the person is licensed as such in accordance with the provisions of this Act. After July 1, 1991 (the effective date of Public Act 86-1396), no person shall practice or hold oneself out as a physical therapist assistant unless the person is licensed as such under this Act. A physical therapist shall use the initials "PT" in connection with the physical therapist's name to denote licensure under this Act, and a physical therapist assistant shall use the initials "PTA" in connection with the physical therapist assistant's name to denote licensure under this Act.
