Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS)
Updating the database of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (ILCS) is an ongoing process. Recent laws may not yet be included in the ILCS database, but they are found on this site as Public Acts soon after they become law. For information concerning the relationship between statutes and Public Acts, refer to the Guide.
Because the statute database is maintained primarily for legislative drafting purposes, statutory changes are sometimes included in the statute database before they take effect. If the source note at the end of a Section of the statutes includes a Public Act that has not yet taken effect, the version of the law that is currently in effect may have already been removed from the database and you should refer to that Public Act to see the changes made to the current law.
(420 ILCS 20/17) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 241-17) Sec. 17. Penalties. (a) Any person operating any facility in violation of Section 8 shall be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $100,000 per day of violation. (b) Any person failing to pay the fees provided for in Section 13 shall be liable to a civil penalty not to exceed 4 times the amount of the fees not paid. (c) At the request of the Agency, the civil penalties shall be recovered in an action brought by the Attorney General on behalf of the State in the circuit court in which the violation occurred. All amounts collected from fines under this Section shall be deposited into the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Facility Development and Operation Fund.(Source: P.A. 104-2, eff. 6-16-25.) |
