The Children and Family Services Act is 5 amended by changing Section 1.1 as follows: 6 (20 ILCS 505/1.1) (from Ch. 23, par. 5001.1) 7 Sec. 1.1. Short title. This Actshall be known andmay 8 be cited as the Children and Family Services Act. 9 (Source: P.A. 86-820.) 10 Section 10. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by 11 changing Section 1-1 as follows: 12 (705 ILCS 405/1-1) (from Ch. 37, par. 801-1) 13 Sec. 1-1. Short title. This Actshall be known andmay 14 be cited as the Juvenile Court Act of 1987. 15 (Source: P.A. 85-601.) 16 Section 15. The Adoption Act is amended by changing 17 Section 2 as follows: 18 (750 ILCS 50/2) (from Ch. 40, par. 1502) -2- LRB9000710MWpcam01 1 Sec. 2. Who may adopt a child. A. Any of the following 2 persons, who is under no legal disability (except the 3 minority specified in sub-paragraph (b) and who has resided 4 in the State of Illinois continuously for a period of at 5 least 6 months immediately preceding the commencement of an 6 adoption proceeding, or any member of the armed forces of the 7 United States who has been domiciled in the State of Illinois 8 for 90 days, may institute thesuchproceeding: 9 (a) A reputable person of legal age and of either sex, 10 provided that if such person is married, his or her spouse 11 shall be a party to the adoption proceeding, including a 12 husband or wife desiring to adopt a child of the other 13 spouse, in all of which cases the adoption shall be by both 14 spouses jointly; 15 (b) A minor, by leave of court upon good cause shown. 16 B. The residence requirement specified in paragraph A of 17 this Section shall not apply to an adoption of a related 18 child or to an adoption of a child placed by an agency. 19 (Source: P.A. 83-62.)".
