Amends the Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act to
prohibit the Carnival-Amusement Safety Board and the
Department of Labor from requiring that attendants be present
during the use of inflatable structures at events not open to
the general public. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety
2 Act by adding Section 2-9.5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Carnival and Amusement Rides Safety Act is
6 amended by adding Section 2-9.5 as follows:
7 (430 ILCS 85/2-9.5 new)
8 Sec. 2-9.5. Inflatable structures. The Board and the
9 Department shall not require that an attendant be present to
10 operate or monitor the use of an inflatable structure
11 regulated under this Act at events not open to the general
12 public. As used in this Section, "events not open to the
13 general public" include events at private residences, church
14 fairs, company picnics, neighborhood block parties, and
15 similar events that are intended to attract a particular
16 group of persons.
17 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18 becoming law.
