60 ILCS 1/15-10
Amends the Township Code to provide that when territory
is disconnected from a city that is coterminous with a
township, the territory shall be automatically disconnected
from the coterminous township and shall be automatically
connected to the adjacent township (now by county board
resolution). Deletes disconnection restrictions on the size
of the territory and the number of the territory's
inhabitants.

1 AN ACT to amend the Township Code by changing Section
2 15-10.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
6 Section 15-10 as follows:
7 (60 ILCS 1/15-10)
8 Sec. 15-10. Disconnection of territory from township;
9 annexation to adjacent township. Whenever a township is
10 organized under this Article and any of the territory of the
11 city is disconnected from the city by court order or
12 ordinance, the territory shall be automatically disconnected
13 from the township that is coterminous with the city from
14 which the territory is disconnected and shall be
15 automatically connected to the adjacent township, and the
16 transfer of the territory shall not affect the city's status
17 as a city with a coterminous township not more than one-half
18 square mile in extent and containing not more than 50
19 inhabitants is disconnected from the city, the county board
20 may, by resolution, upon receiving a certified copy of the
21 resolution or ordinance of the city disconnecting the
22 territory and after a public hearing on the matter following
23 notice given as provided in Section 15-5, disconnect the
24 territory from the township and annex it to an adjacent
25 township or townships.
