Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Requires the
Department of State Police to notify the U.S. Department of
the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the
name and address of the purchaser or applicant for purchase
of a third or subsequent firearm within a 48-hour period.

1 AN ACT to amend the Criminal Code of 1961 by adding
2 Section 24-8.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by
6 adding Section 24-8 as follows:
7 (720 ILCS 5/24-8 new)
8 Sec. 24-8. Department of State Police notification to the
9 United States Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol,
10 Tobacco and Firearms of firearm purchases. The Department of
11 State Police shall notify the United States Department of the
12 Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the name
13 and address of the purchaser or applicant for purchase of a
14 third or subsequent firearm within a 48-hour period.
