1 AN ACT to amend the Regional Transportation Authority Act
2 by changing Section 2.10.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
6 amended by changing Section 2.10 as follows:
7 (70 ILCS 3615/2.10) (from Ch. 111 2/3, par. 702.10)
8 Sec. 2.10. Protection of the Environment. The Authority
9 and the Service Boards shall take all feasible and prudent
10 steps to minimize environmental disruption and pollution
11 arising from its activities or from public transportation
12 activities of transportation agencies acting pursuant to
13 purchase of service agreements. In carrying out its purposes
14 and powers under this Act, the Authority and the Service
15 Boards shall seek to reduce environmental disruption and
16 pollution arising from all forms of transportation of persons
17 within the metropolitan region. The Service Boards shall
18 employ persons with skills and responsibilities for
19 determining means to minimize the such disruption and
20 pollution.
