      720 ILCS 5/18-2           from Ch. 38, par. 18-2
          Amends the Criminal Code  of  1961.   Provides  that  the
      offense  of  armed  robbery includes committing robbery while
      carrying on or about one's person, a look-alike firearm while
      indicating verbally or by his or her  action  to  the  victim
      that  he  or  she is presently armed with a firearm.  Defines
      look-alike firearm  to  be  a  toy  or  replica  object  that
      resembles a firearm.  Effective immediately.

 1        AN  ACT  to  amend  the Criminal Code of 1961 by changing
 2    Section 18-2.
 3        Be it enacted by the People of  the  State  of  Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section  5.   The  Criminal  Code  of  1961 is amended by
 6    changing Section 18-2 as follows:
 7        (720 ILCS 5/18-2) (from Ch. 38, par. 18-2)
 8        Sec. 18-2. Armed robbery.
 9        (a)  A person  commits  armed  robbery  when  he  or  she
10    violates Section 18-1 while he or she:
11             (1)  carries  on  or  about his or her person, or is
12        otherwise armed with a dangerous weapon; or.
13             (2)  carries on  or  about  his  or  her  person,  a
14        look-alike firearm while indicating verbally or by his or
15        her  actions  to  the  victim that he or she is presently
16        armed with a firearm.
17        (b)  Sentence.
18        Armed robbery is a Class X felony.
19        (c)  As used in this Section, "look-alike firearm"  means
20    a  toy  or replica object that resembles a firearm as defined
21    in Section 1.1 of the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act.

23        Section 99.  Effective date.  This Act takes effect  upon
24    becoming law.
