90_HB0692 10 ILCS 5/9-25.2 new Amends the Election Code to prohibit a contribution being made in a State building. Penalty is a Class B misdemeanor. Permits the receipt of an offer or contribution if it has not been solicited in a manner that directs the contributor to mail or deliver a contribution to a State building and the contribution is transferred to a political committee within 7 days of receipt, or the making or receipt of the contribution in a room or building leased or rented by a political committee for fundraising events. LRB9003242MWpc LRB9003242MWpc 1 AN ACT to amend the Election Code by adding Section 2 9-25.2. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section 6 9-25.2 as follows: 7 (10 ILCS 5/9-25.2 new) 8 Sec. 9-25.2. Contributions in State buildings prohibited. 9 (a) It is unlawful for any person to solicit, receive, 10 offer, make, or deliver any contribution within the meaning 11 of Section 9-1.4 in any room or building occupied in the 12 discharge of official duties by any public official required 13 to file statements of economic interest with the Secretary of 14 State under the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. A person 15 who violates this Section is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. 16 (b) The prohibition in subsection (a) does not apply to: 17 (1) the recipient of an offer or contribution if (i) the 18 contribution was not solicited in a manner that directs the 19 contributor to mail or deliver a contribution to any room, 20 building, or other facility referred to in subsection (a) and 21 (ii) the contribution is transferred within 7 days of receipt 22 to a political committee within the meaning of Section 9-1.9; 23 or (2) the making or receipt of contributions in any room or 24 building leased or rented by a political committee as defined 25 by Section 9-1.9 for fundraising events as described in 26 Section 9-1.4.
