          Amends the Health Maintenance Organization Act to require
      coverage for developmental therapy for children not more than
      3 years old who have developmental disabilities.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Health Maintenance  Organization  Act
 2    by adding Section 4-6.5.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5. The Health  Maintenance  Organization  Act  is
 6    amended by adding Section 4-6.5 as follows:
 7        (215 ILCS 125/4-6.5 new)
 8        Sec.   4-6.5.  Developmental  therapies.  A  contract  or
 9    evidence of coverage amended, delivered, issued,  or  renewed
10    after  the effective date of this amendatory Act of 1997 must
11    provide coverage for developmental therapies for children not
12    more than 3 years old who have developmental disabilities.
