Provides that an individual is deemed not actively seeking work if: (i) he or she was last employed by a temporary help firm, (ii) during the week for which he or she claims benefits, he or she did not contact the firm for an assignment, and (iii) the firm files with the Director of Employment Security a notice alleging the individual failed to contact the firm during that week. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by 6 adding Section 500.1 as follows: 7 (820 ILCS 405/500.1 new) 8 Sec. 500.1. Temporary help firm; eligibility. An 9 individual is deemed not actively seeking work if he or she 10 was last employed by a temporary help firm and, during the 11 week for which he or she claims benefits, did not contact the 12 firm for an assignment, provided that the temporary help firm 13 has filed with the Director, within the time limits specified 14 by rules of the Director, a notice alleging the individual 15 failed to contact the firm during that week. 16 As used in this Section, "temporary help firm" means an 17 employing unit that hires its own employees and assigns them 18 to clients to support or supplement the client's workforce in 19 work situations such as employee absences, temporary skill 20 shortages, seasonal workloads, or special assignments or 21 projects.
