Amends the Public Community College Act. Deletes a
provision that provides that the term of the student member
initially selected to serve as a member of a community
college board begins on the date of selection and ends on the
next succeeding June 30.

1 AN ACT to amend the Public Community College Act by
2 changing Section 3-7.24.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended
6 by changing Section 3-7.24 as follows:
7 (110 ILCS 805/3-7.24) (from Ch. 122, par. 103-7.24)
8 Sec. 3-7.24. Each community college board shall have one
9 non-voting member who is a student enrolled in the community
10 college under the jurisdiction of the board. One non-voting
11 student member shall also be selected in multi-campus
12 districts to represent all campuses in those districts. In
13 multi-campus districts, the campus from which the member is
14 selected shall be determined by lot each year provided that
15 no campus shall twice have selected a non-voting student
16 member until all campuses in the district have once been
17 represented on the district board. The same procedure shall
18 be followed until all campuses have been represented a second
19 time, a third time, and subsequent times. The method of
20 selecting these student members shall be determined by
21 campus-wide student referendum.
22 The student members shall serve a term of one year
23 beginning on April 15 of each year, except that the student
24 member initially selected shall serve a term beginning on the
25 date of selection and expiring on the next succeeding June
26 30.
27 The nonvoting student members shall have all of the
28 privileges of membership, including the right to make and
29 second motions and to attend executive sessions, other than
30 the right to vote.
