Amends the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Act.
Repeals provisions concerning an audit by the Auditor General
of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater
Chicago. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Metropolitan Water Reclamation
2 District Act by changing Section 5.12 and repealing Section
3 5.12a.
4 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
5 represented in the General Assembly:
6 Section 5. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
7 Act is amended by changing Section 5.12 as follows:
8 (70 ILCS 2605/5.12) (from Ch. 42, par. 324v)
9 Sec. 5.12. Annual audit. Each district shall cause an
10 independent audit to be made annually for the period
11 beginning January 1, and ending December 31. Such audit shall
12 be made by a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice
13 in the State of Illinois, who shall examine and audit the
14 accounts of the district. A report thereof, together with any
15 recommendations as to changes in accounting procedure shall
16 be made to the board of trustees and shall be printed in the
17 official proceedings of the district. At least 3 copies of
18 such audit shall be made conveniently available for public
19 inspection at the office of the district and a copy of such
20 audit shall be made available to any person requesting a copy
21 thereof upon the payment of a reasonable charge. Copies of
22 such audit shall be furnished to such departments or agencies
23 of the State of Illinois as may be required by law and such
24 audit shall comply with such State laws as may regulate the
25 making of governmental audits. The reasonable expense of the
26 audit required to be made hereunder shall be paid by each
27 such sanitary district.
28 An annual audit of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation
29 District of Greater Chicago conducted in accordance with
30 Section 5.12a serves as that district's annual audit required
31 by this Section.

3 Section 10. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
4 Act is amended by repealing Section 5.12a.
5 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6 becoming law.
