 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1250
 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill  1250  on  page  1,
 3    line 1, after "Code by", by inserting "changing Section 100-5
 4    and"; and
 5    on page 1, line 5, after "amended by", by inserting "changing
 6    Section 100-5 and"; and
 7    on page 1, by inserting below line 6, the following:
 8        "(60 ILCS 1/100-5)
 9        Sec.   100-5.  Township  attorney  and  other  employees;
10    compensation.
11        (a)  The  township  board  may   employ   and   fix   the
12    compensation  of  township  employees  that  the  board deems
13    necessary,  excluding  the  employees  of  the   offices   of
14    supervisor  of  general  assistance,  township collector, and
15    township  assessor.  The  township  board   shall   fix   the
16    compensation of a township attorney appointed by the township
17    supervisor  under Section 70-37.  The township attorney shall
18    not be considered a township employee  for  purposes  of  the
19    first sentence of this subsection.
20        (b)  The  board  shall set and adopt rules concerning all
21    benefits available to employees of the  board  if  the  board
22    employs 5 or more employees. The rules shall include, without

 1    limitation,  the  following  benefits  to the extent they are
 2    applicable: insurance coverage, compensation,  overtime  pay,
 3    compensatory  time  off, holidays, vacations, sick leave, and
 4    maternity leave. The rules shall be adopted  and  filed  with
 5    the  township  clerk  within  6  months  after  July 1, 1992.
 6    Amendments to the rules shall  be  filed  with  the  township
 7    clerk on or before their effective date.
 8        (c)  Unless  otherwise  provided  and  if approved by the
 9    highway commissioner, the  township  board  of  trustees  may
10    employ  and  fix  the  compensation  of  a  separate township
11    attorney who shall represent the highway commissioner.   Such
12    compensation shall be paid out of the township road fund.
