Provides for the creation of an Aging Veterans Task Force to study the State's capability to provide health care to veterans after the year 2000. Provides that the task force shall make recommendations to improve this capability to the Department by January 1, 1999. LRB9003864PTcw LRB9003864PTcw 1 AN ACT to amend the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois 2 by adding Section 55.84. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is 6 amended by adding Section 55.84 as follows: 7 (20 ILCS 2310/55.84 new) 8 Sec. 55.84. Aging Veterans Task Force. 9 (a) The Director of Public Health shall appoint an Aging 10 Veterans Task Force to study the capability of the State to 11 provide health care to veterans of the armed forces after the 12 year 2000. The task force shall consist of persons 13 representing the Department, the Department of Veterans' 14 Affairs, Illinois Veterans Homes, hospitals, nursing homes, 15 other health care facilities, and advocates for residents of 16 Illinois Veterans Homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and other 17 health care facilities. Members of the task force shall 18 serve without compensation other than reimbursement for 19 necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their 20 duties. 21 (b) The task force shall conduct a comprehensive 22 examination of the future demands for health care by the 23 State's aging veteran population and the ability of the State 24 to provide that health care. 25 (c) The task force shall make recommendations to assist 26 the Department and the Department of Veterans' Affairs in 27 developing agency and legislative changes to provide health 28 care to the State's veterans after the year 2000. The task 29 force shall report its recommendations to the Department 30 before January 1, 1999.
