1 AN ACT to amend the Structural Engineering Licensing Act
2 of 1989 by changing Section 16.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Structural Engineering Licensing Act of
6 1989 is amended by changing Section 16 as follows:
7 (225 ILCS 340/16) (from Ch. 111, par. 6616)
8 Sec. 16. Endorsement. The Department may, in its
9 discretion, license as a structural engineer, without
10 examination on payment of the required fee, an applicant who
11 is a structural engineer licensed under the laws of another
12 state or territory, or of another country, if the
13 requirements for licensure in the state, territory or country
14 were, at the date of licensure, substantially equivalent to
15 the requirements in force in this State on that date.
16 Applicants have 3 years from the date of application to
17 complete the application process. If the process has not
18 been completed in 3 years, the application shall be denied,
19 the fee forfeited and the applicant must reapply and meet the
20 requirements in effect at the time of reapplication.
