          Amends the Illinois Vehicle  Code  to  make  a  technical
      change  to  a  provision concerning requirements for a driver
      transporting senior citizens.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Illinois  Vehicle  Code  by  changing
 2    Section 6-106.3.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section 5.  The  Illinois  Vehicle  Code  is  amended  by
 6    changing Section 6-106.3 as follows:
 7        (625 ILCS 5/6-106.3) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 6-106.3)
 8        Sec.  6-106.3.  Senior citizen transportation - driver. A
 9    driver of a  vehicle  operated  solely  for  the  purpose  of
10    providing  transportation  for the elderly in connection with
11    the activities of any public or  private  organization  shall
12    meet the following requirements:
13        (1)  is 21 years of age or older;
14        (2)  has a valid and properly classified driver's license
15    issued by the Secretary of State;
16        (3)  has had a valid driver's license, not necessarily of
17    the  same  classification,  for  3 years prior to the date of
18    application;
19        (4)  has demonstrated his  or  her  ability  to  exercise
20    reasonable  care  in  the  safe  operation of a motor vehicle
21    which will be utilized to  transport  persons  in  accordance
22    with  such  standards  as  the  Secretary of State prescribes
23    including a driving test in such motor vehicle; and
24        (5)  has not been  convicted  of  any  of  the  following
25    offenses  within 3 years of the date of application: Sections
26    11-401 (leaving the scene of  a  traffic  accident  involving
27    death   or   personal  injury),  11-501  (driving  under  the
28    influence),  11-503  (reckless  driving)  and  11-504   (drag
29    racing)  of  this  Code,  or  Sections  9-3  (manslaughter or
30    reckless homicide) and 12-5 (reckless  conduct  arising  from
31    the use of a motor vehicle) of the Criminal Code of 1961.
