1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1457
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 1457 on page 1, by
3 replacing line 31 with "1998 and thereafter."; and
4 on page 2, by replacing lines 1 through 13 with the
5 following:
6 "Appropriations to the Department of Nuclear Safety for
7 compensation to local governments from the Nuclear Safety
8 Emergency Preparedness Fund provided for in this Section
9 shall not exceed $650,000 per State fiscal year.
10 Expenditures from these appropriations shall not exceed, in a
11 single State fiscal year, the annual compensation amount made
12 available to local governments under this Section, unexpended
13 funds made available for local government compensation in the
14 previous fiscal year, and funds recovered under the Illinois
15 Grant Funds Recovery Act during previous fiscal years.
16 Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the
17 expenditure limitation for fiscal year 1998 shall include the
18 additional $100,000 made available to local governments for
19 fiscal year 1997 under this amendatory Act of 1997. Any
20 funds within these expenditure limitations, including the
21 additional $100,000 made available for fiscal year 1997 under
22 this amendatory Act of 1997, that remain unexpended at the
23 close of business on June 30, 1997, and on June 30 of each

1 succeeding year, shall be excluded from the calculations of
2 credit under item (3) of this Section. The Department shall,
