1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1458
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 1458 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4 "Section 5. The Health Care Worker Background Check Act
5 is amended by adding Section 80 as follows:
6 (225 ILCS 46/80 new)
7 Sec. 80. Home Care Worker Background Check. On or
8 before July 1, 1998, the Department on Aging and the
9 Department of Human Services, with the cooperation of the
10 Department of Public Health, shall design and develop a plan
11 to conduct background checks on persons seeking employment as
12 home care workers in this State, based on the process used by
13 the Department of Public Health under this Act. As used in
14 this Section, "home care worker" means a person who provides
15 services described under the Illinois Act on the Aging and
16 the Disabled Persons Rehabilitation Act on contract or
17 through a service agency at a person's residence. The
18 Director of the Department on Aging and the Secretary of the
19 Department of Human Services shall jointly submit the plan to
20 the Governor and the General Assembly.".
