Requires each of the universities governed by those Acts to offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education to children of employees of any other such university if those employees have been employed an aggregate of 7 years by one or more of those universities and if their children meet certain age and academic requirements. LRB9000549THpk LRB9000549THpk 1 AN ACT relating to partial tuition waivers for children 2 of employees of public universities, amending named Acts. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by 6 changing Section 7f as follows: 7 (110 ILCS 305/7f) (from Ch. 144, par. 28f) 8 Sec. 7f. Partial tuition waivers. 9 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 10 university" means any of the following: the University of 11 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 12 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 13 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 14 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 15 Illinois University. 16 (b)(a)Each year the Board of Trustees of the 17 University of Illinois shall offer 50% tuition waivers for 18 undergraduate education at any campus under its governance or 19 supervision to the children of employees of an Illinois 20 college or universitythe Universitywho have been employed 21 by any one or by more than one Illinois college or university 22the Universityfor an aggregate period of at least 7 years. 23 To be eligible to receive a partial tuition waiver, the child 24 of an employee of an Illinois college or universitythe25University(i) must be under the age of 25 at the 26 commencement of the academic year during which the partial 27 tuition waiver is to be effective, and (ii) must qualify for 28 admission to the University of Illinois under the same 29 admissions requirements, standards and policies which the 30 University of Illinois applies to applicants for admission 31 generally to its respective undergraduate colleges and -2- LRB9000549THpk 1 programs. 2 (c)(b)Subject to the provisions and limitations of 3 subsection (b)(a), an eligible applicant who has continued 4 to maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation 5 may have his or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the 6 time as he or she has expended 4 years of undergraduate 7 partial tuition waiver benefits under this Section. 8 (d)(c)No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated 9 to any eligible applicant in accordance with the provisions 10 of this Section shall be charged against any tuition waiver 11 limitation established by the Illinois Board of Higher 12 Education. 13 (e)(d)The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and 14 regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the 15 provisions of this Section. 16 (Source: P.A. 87-793.) 17 Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management 18 Act is amended by changing Section 8f as follows: 19 (110 ILCS 520/8f) (from Ch. 144, par. 658f) 20 Sec. 8f. Partial tuition waivers. 18 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 19 university" means any of the following: the University of 20 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 21 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 22 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 23 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 24 Illinois University. 25 (b)(a)Each year the Board of Governors State 26 University shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate 27 education at any campus under its governance to the children 28 of employees of an Illinois college or universitythe29Universitywho have been employed by any one or by more than 30 one Illinois college or universitythe Universityfor an 31 aggregate period of at least 7 years. Partial tuition waivers. 5 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 6 university" means any of the following: the University of 7 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 8 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 9 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 10 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 11 Illinois University. 12 (b)(a)Each year the Board of Northeastern Illinois 13 University shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate 14 education at any campus under its governance to the children 15 of employees of an Illinois college or universitythe16Universitywho have been employed by any one or by more than 17 one Illinois college or universitythe Universityfor an 18 aggregate period of at least 7 years.
