1 AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1574
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend House Bill 1574 on page 20, by
3 inserting immediately below line 24 the following:
4 "(8) (a) Grants may be awarded by the Department to
5 foster cooperation among Illinois businesses by
6 emphasizing an industry-wide or sector-based approach to
7 business assistance. Grants will encourage groups of
8 businesses to work together on a cooperative development
9 project that will benefit all participants equally by
10 providing matching funds to industrial or regional
11 business groups for the purpose of solving common
12 problems or meeting common needs such as joint training,
13 marketing, and exporting projects. The grant recipients
14 shall be not-for-profit corporations whose purpose is to
15 promote industrial and business development.
16 (b) Two or more Illinois businesses must cooperate
17 on the development project, and a 50% match is required.
18 The project must promote the development of one or more
19 sectors of Illinois industrial or business economy or the
20 economic development of a geographical region of the
21 State.".
