Appropriates $75,000,000 to the Department of Commerce
and Community Affairs for grants under the Low Income Home
Energy Assistance Act of 1981. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT making an appropriation for home energy
2 assistance.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The sum of $75,000,000, or so much thereof as
6 may be necessary, is appropriated from moneys in the General
7 Revenue Fund derived from receipts under the Gas Revenue Tax
8 Act and the Public Utilities Revenue Act to the Department of
9 Commerce and Community Affairs for fiscal year 1997 grants to
10 eligible recipients under the Low Income Home Energy
11 Assistance Act of 1981 and for reimbursement for costs in
12 prior years.
13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14 becoming law.
