Amends the Vehicle Code to provide that a minor may not
drive between the hours of one o'clock a.m. and 6 o'clock
a.m. unless accompanied by a parent or the minor is driving
to or from work or because of a medical emergency. Effective
immediately.

1 AN ACT to amend the Illinois Vehicle Code by adding
2 Section 11-1429.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
6 adding Section 11-1429 as follows:
7 (625 ILCS 5/11-1429 new)
8 Sec. 11-1429. Restrictions on minor driving at night. A
9 person under the age of 18 may not drive between the hours of
10 one o'clock a.m. and 6 o'clock a.m. unless accompanied by a
11 parent or legal guardian or the person is driving to or from
12 work or because of a medical emergency, and the person is not
13 prohibited from being on any street or highway under the
14 Child Curfew Act.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16 becoming law.
