Amends the School Code. Directs the State Board of
Education to study and report on the North Carolina early
childhood initiatives and the programs of the North Carolina
Partnership for Children, Inc.

1 AN ACT to amend the School Code by adding Section
2 2-3.71b.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
6 2-3.71b as follows:
7 (105 ILCS 5/2-3.71b new)
8 Sec. 2-3.71b. Childhood initiatives; study. The State
9 Board of Education shall study the early childhood
10 initiatives adopted by the State of North Carolina and the
11 programs of the North Carolina Partnership for Children, Inc.
12 The State Board shall report to the General Assembly by
13 September 1, 1998 the results of its study, including any
14 recommendations it may have for adopting any portions of
15 those programs that may be useful in this State.
