by making a technical change to the Section concerning
investigations by the State Board of Elections.

1 AN ACT to amend the Election Code by changing Section
2 9-18.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
6 Section 9-18 as follows:
7 (10 ILCS 5/9-18) (from Ch. 46, par. 9-18)
8 Sec. 9-18. The Board may hold investigations, inquiries,
9 and hearings concerning any matter covered by this Article,
10 subject to any such rules and regulations that as the Board
11 may establish. In the process of holding such investigations,
12 inquiries, and hearings, the Board may administer oaths and
13 affirmations, certify to all official acts, issue subpoenas
14 to be authorized by a vote of 5 members of the Board, compel
15 the attendance and testimony of witnesses, and the production
16 of papers, books, accounts, and documents. Hearings conducted
17 by the Board shall be open to the public.
