          Amends the Counties Code.  Makes a  technical  change  in
      the   Section  concerning  the  county  impact  incarceration
      program in a county with 3,000,000 or more inhabitants.

 1        AN ACT to amend the Counties  Code  by  changing  Section
 2    3-15003.5.
 3        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 4    represented in the General Assembly:
 5        Section  5.  The Counties Code  is  amended  by  changing
 6    Section 3-15003.5 as follows:
 7        (55 ILCS 5/3-15003.5)
 8        Sec. 3-15003.5. County impact incarceration program.
 9        (a)  Under  the  direction  of  the  Sheriff and with the
10    approval of the County Board of Commissioners, the Sheriff in
11    any county with more than 3,000,000 inhabitants,  shall  have
12    the  power  to  operate a county impact incarceration program
13    for  persons  eligible  for  a  term  of  imprisonment,   but
14    sentenced  to  a  county  impact incarceration program by the
15    sentencing court. In order to be eligible to participate in a
16    county impact incarceration program, a person convicted of  a
17    felony  shall  meet  the requirements set forth in subsection
18    (b) of Section 5-8-1.2 of the Unified Code of Corrections.

20        (c)  The Sheriff, with the approval of the  County  Board
21    of   Commissioners,  shall  have  the  power  to  enter  into
22    intergovernmental cooperation agreements  with  the  Illinois
23    Department  of Corrections under which persons in the custody
24    of the Illinois Department of Corrections may participate  in
25    the  county impact incarceration program.  No person shall be
26    eligible for participation who does not meet the criteria set
27    forth in subsection (b) of Section  5-8-1.1  of  the  Unified
28    Code  of  Corrections.  Offenders  committed  to the Illinois
29    Department  of  Corrections  who  successfully  complete  the
30    county impact incarceration program shall have their sentence
31    reduced to time considered served upon certification  to  the

 1    Court  by  the  Illinois  Department  of Corrections that the
 2    offender has successfully completed the program.
