Provides that, upon marriage, either party may assume the surname of the other party, and if a party chooses to do so, he or she shall be called and known by that name without being required to petition for a name change under the Code of Civil Procedure. The Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of 6 Marriage Act is amended by adding Section 202.5 as follows: 7 (750 ILCS 5/202.5 new) 8 Sec. 202.5. Name change. Upon marriage, either party 9 may assume the surname of the other party. If a party 10 chooses to do so, he or she shall be called and known by that 11 name without being required to petition for a name change 12 under the Code of Civil Procedure.
