New Act
Creates the Celebrate Illinois 2000 Millennium Commission
to be chaired by the Governor and the Mayor of Chicago.
Provides that the Commission shall examine, support, and
promote Illinois' distinctive contributions to history and
shall develop a lasting contribution to future generations to
mark and celebrate a new millennium. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT to create the Celebrate Illinois 2000 Millennium
2 Commission.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
6 Celebrate Illinois 2000 Millennium Commission Act.
7 Section 5. Celebrate Illinois 2000 Millennium
8 Commission. There is created the Celebrate Illinois 2000
9 Millennium Commission to be chaired by the Governor, or the
10 Governor's designee, and the Mayor of Chicago, or the Mayor's
11 designee. The Commission shall examine, support, and promote
12 Illinois' distinctive contributions as a State and as a
13 people throughout history and shall develop a lasting
14 contribution to future generations in order to mark and
15 celebrate a new millennium.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
