Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Adds a heading
to Section that requires the Department of Corrections to
implement a comprehensive energy conservation program at all
correctional institutions and facilities in the State.

1 AN ACT to amend the Unified Code of Corrections by
2 changing Section 3-7-5.
3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
4 represented in the General Assembly:
5 Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
6 changing Section 3-7-5 as follows:
7 (730 ILCS 5/3-7-5) (from Ch. 38, par. 1003-7-5)
8 Sec. 3-7-5. Comprehensive energy conservation program.
9 The Department shall implement a comprehensive energy
10 conservation program at all correctional institutions and
11 facilities in the State, for the purpose of conserving energy
12 in any and all forms and to ultimately reduce expenditures in
13 such regard. The Department may request the Capital
14 Development Board to provide personnel and services in
15 connection with the inspection of the institutions and
16 facilities and the making of specific recommendations for
17 current expenditures for improvement and ultimate cost
18 reduction.
