Amends Public Act 90-10. Increases from $20,000,000 to
$40,000,000 the FY98 appropriation to the Department of
Transportation for grants to the Regional Transportation
Authority for reimbursement for providing reduced mass
transportation fares for students, handicapped persons, and
the elderly. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning appropriations.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. "An Act regarding appropriations" Public Act
5 90-10, approved June 11, 1997, is amended by changing Section
6 19b1 of Article 89 as follows:
7 (P.A. 90-10, Article 89, Section 19b1)
8 Sec. 19b1. The sum of $40,000,000 $20,000,000, or so
9 much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated from the
10 General Revenue Fund to the Department of Transportation for
11 making grants to the Regional Transportation Authority for
12 the purpose of reimbursing the Service Boards for providing
13 reduced fares for mass transportation services for students,
14 handicapped persons, and the elderly to be allocated
15 proportionately among the Service Boards based upon actual
16 costs incurred by each Service Board for such reduced fares.

18 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
19 becoming law.
