90_HB3368 5 ILCS 375/5.5 new Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971. Provides that contractors providing health benefits under that Act must make those benefits available to welfare to work program participants whose Medicaid eligibility has expired. Provides that the benefits shall be made available at the group rate under the contract and that the person obtaining benefits shall pay the charges for the benefit coverage. LRB9010835JSgc LRB9010835JSgc 1 AN ACT to amend the State Employees Group Insurance Act 2 of 1971 by adding Section 5.5. 3 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 4 represented in the General Assembly: 5 Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of 6 1971 is amended by adding Section 5.5 as follows: 7 (5 ILCS 375/5.5 new) 8 Sec. 5.5. Health benefit contractors; welfare to work. 9 As a part of a contract to provide health benefits to State 10 employees under this Act, the contractor shall agree to 11 provide identical benefits at the same cost to persons who 12 have participated in a welfare to work program for such a 13 length of time that their eligibility for Medicaid benefits 14 has expired. Persons who participate in the program of 15 health benefits under this Section shall pay the charges for 16 the coverage.
