1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are pleased to
3 recognize individuals who have contributed greatly to
4 athletics and all who love and enjoy sports; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Jim Taxman was
6 recently inducted into the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame; and
7 WHEREAS, Jim Taxman, known as the "Golden Voice of
8 Centralia Orphan Sports", was a 1951 graduate of Centralia
9 High School and graduated from the University of Illinois in
10 1955; and
11 WHEREAS, He began his broadcasting career covering
12 basketball, football, and baseball in the mid-1960s and has
13 called approximately 1,000 games; he also used his talents as
14 a public address announcer at athletic events and has served
15 as an emcee on many special occasions; and
16 WHEREAS, Jim Taxman has contributed greatly to his
17 community throughout the years; therefore, be it
18 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 congratulate Jim Taxman on being inducted into the Centralia
21 Sports Hall of Fame and commend him on his contribution to
22 the enjoyment of sports in the Centralia area; and be it
23 further
24 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to Jim Taxman.
