1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, This Body is always pleased to recognize
3 outstanding milestones in the lives of one of its members;
4 and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Representative
6 Angelo "Skip" Saviano of Elmwood Park is being honored as
7 "Man of the Year" by the Italo American Soccer Club Maroons
8 on Saturday, March 22, 1997; and
9 WHEREAS, Skip Saviano was born in Chicago on May 20,
10 1958; he graduated from Holy Cross High School in River Grove
11 and received a bachelor's degree from DePaul University; and
12 WHEREAS, He owned and operated a paralegal service in
13 Chicago from 1982 until 1989 and began his career in public
14 service when he was elected Supervisor of Leyden Township in
15 1989; and
16 WHEREAS, He was elected to serve the 77th District as
17 State Representative in November of 1992; he serves as the
18 Chairman of the Registration and Regulation Committee and
19 also serves on the Aging, Appropriations-Human Services, and
20 Financial Institutions Committees; he was appointed a member
21 of the Council on Aging by Governor Jim Edgar; and
22 WHEREAS, His effectiveness and success as a freshman
23 representative earned him the rating of "most effective
24 legislator" in either the House or the Senate by Illinois
25 Politics magazine; and
26 WHEREAS, Representative Skip Saviano is also affiliated
27 with the West Cook County Solid Waste Agency, the Elmwood
28 Park Civic Foundation, the Elmwood Park Fourth of July
29 Committee, Talkline/Kidsline, the Leyden-Norwood Municipal
30 League, the National Italian Sports Hall of Fame, the
31 Northwest Youth Outreach Program, the Italo American National

1 Union, and the Leyden Township Republican Voter's
2 Organization; and
3 WHEREAS, He has been lovingly supported throughout his
4 public and private career by his wife Julie and their
5 daughters, Bianca and Gianna; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 congratulate Representative Skip Saviano on being named "Man
9 of the Year" by the Italo American Soccer Club Maroons and
10 extend to him our sincere best wishes for continued success
11 in the future; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to him as an expression of our respect and esteem.
