90_HR0082 LRB9005458CBcb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The Star Newspaper of Tinley Park recently 3 published a series of articles, "Stayin' Alive at 55", 4 written by Dave Fanno and Mark J. Konkol; and 5 WHEREAS, The Star Newspaper was instrumental in alerting 6 the community of the dangers and risks of speeding on area 7 highways and helped focus attention on this serious problem; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, The Star Newspaper brought this matter to the 10 attention of the State Police, leading to an increase of 11 enforcement and furthering public safety on area highways; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, The Star Newspaper has helped save lives through 14 their impressive investigation into this vital issue of 15 public safety; therefore, be it 16 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 17 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 18 join the people of the South Suburbs in commending the Star 19 Newspaper for bringing this issue to the attention of the 20 State Police and the community; and be it further 21 RESOLVED, That we urge the Illinois State Police to 22 continue its increased enforcement of the law on these 23 highways, thereby protecting the lives of residents who rely 24 on the interstates to travel throughout the South Suburban 25 communities; and be it further 26 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 27 delivered to the publisher and editor of the Star Newspaper 28 in Tinley Park and to Director of State Police Terry Gainer.
