1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, April 8, 1997 marks the fifth anniversary of the
3 loss of Police Officer Kenneth R. Novak Jr. of Lansing, the
4 only Lansing police officer killed in the line of duty in the
5 104 year history of the Village; and
6 WHEREAS, His death shall stand as a lasting example of
7 his courage and commitment to serving the people of Lansing;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, Kenneth Novak will long be remembered and
10 respected by his fellow police officers as a comrade who fell
11 in the line of duty; and
12 WHEREAS, He served not only as a police officer but also
13 as a dispatcher and as a paramedic; and
14 WHEREAS, He is proudly remembered by his father, Kenneth
15 Sr.; his mother, Patricia; and his sister, Kathryn;
16 therefore, be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 join with the citizens of Lansing in remembering the death in
20 the line of duty of Officer Kenneth Novak Jr.; and be it
21 further
22 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
23 presented to the family of Officer Novak and to the Village
24 of Lansing Police Department.
