1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of this Body are pleased to
3 recognize Illinois citizens who have distinguished themselves
4 in service to their community and this State; and
5 WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Fred Norris
6 has announced his retirement as Mayor of St. Charles after
7 twenty years of public service to the community; and
8 WHEREAS, For the past thirty-four years, Fred Norris has
9 been employed in administration and management with General
10 Motors, Brunswick Corporation, and the Glidden Corporation,
11 from which he retired in August 1992 after twenty-three years
12 of service; and
13 WHEREAS, He has served on numerous civic, professional,
14 church, and school committees and boards and has held various
15 offices; and
16 WHEREAS, In 1977, he was elected Mayor and has served in
17 that office since that time, having won re-election four
18 times; and
19 WHEREAS, Mayor Norris and his wife Ginny are the parents
20 of Lynda Lee, Fred Jr., and Brenda Lee; and
21 WHEREAS, Fred Norris has served his community in numerous
22 ways and has won the respect and admiration of all those whom
23 he has served; therefore, be it
24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
26 applaud and thank Mayor Fred Norris as he retires as Mayor of
27 St. Charles and extend our sincere best wishes to him for
28 health and happiness in the future; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to him as an expression of our respect and esteem.
