1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Rush North Shore Medical Center had its
3 beginning in the Village of Skokie in 1963 when a group of
4 visionary community leaders founded Skokie Valley Community
5 Hospital; and
6 WHEREAS, In 1987, Skokie Valley Community Hospital
7 affiliated with Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center,
8 one of the nation's premiere academic medical centers,
9 enabling Rush North Shore Medical Center to enhance the
10 quality of its service to the community by bringing together
11 highly specialized medical experts, state-of-the-art
12 technology, and graduate medical education programs in a
13 comfortable community setting; and
14 WHEREAS, In February of 1997, Rush North Shore Medical
15 Center earned Accreditation with Commendation from the Joint
16 Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations,
17 placing the Center in the top 4% of hospitals throughout the
18 nation; and
19 WHEREAS, In 1997, Rush North Shore Medical Center
20 celebrates 10 years of affiliation with Rush-Presbyterian-St.
21 Luke's Medical Center and reaffirms its commitment of future
22 service to the Skokie community; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
24 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
25 commend and applaud Rush North Shore Medical Center, its
26 staff and employees, for their self-sacrificing commitment to
27 the well-being of the Skokie community and acknowledge the
28 valuable services provided throughout the years; and be it
29 further
30 RESOLVED, That we proclaim October 5 through 11, 1997 as
31 Rush North Shore Medical Center Week in the State of

1 Illinois; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the Administrator of Rush North Shore Medical
4 Center.
