90_HR0133 LRB9005617KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of George 4 Hilbring, Jr., of Chicago, Illinois; and 5 WHEREAS, George Hilbring grew up in the Englewood 6 neighborhood of Chicago; he attended St. Copernicus grade 7 school and Englewood High School; he served in the United 8 States Navy as a steward during World War II; upon his 9 discharge he went to work for Kellogg Switchboard and Supply 10 Co.; while working at Kellogg Switchboard George met his wife 11 Emelda; and 12 WHEREAS, George went on to work for Visking Corp., a 13 Union Carbide company, where he worked as a pressman of 14 sausage casing; in 1954 George left Visking to join the 15 police department; and 16 WHEREAS, George Hilbring worked on patrol in the Pullman, 17 Gresham, Grand Crossing, Hyde Park, and Englewood districts 18 of Chicago; he also owned and operated the Cheetah Lounge and 19 Mr. P's Delicatessen before their closing in 1979; in 1981 20 George Hilbring retired from the Chicago Police Department; 21 and 22 WHEREAS, George Hilbring has two sons who serve as police 23 officers: Commander Donald Hilbring of the Wentworth 24 District, and Patrol Officer William Hilbring; and 25 WHEREAS, George Hilbring is survived by his loving wife 26 Emelda; his three sons George III, Donald, and William; his 27 daughter Patricia; his brother William; his sister Gloria 28 Merrill; and seven grandchildren; therefore, be it 29 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 30 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 31 mourn, along with his family and friends, the death of George -2- LRB9005617KBkb 1 H. Hilbring Jr., of Chicago, Illinois; and be it further 2 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 3 presented to the family of George Hilbring Jr.
