 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION
 2        WHEREAS,  The  members  of  the  House  are  pleased   to
 3    recognize    organizations   that   have   made   significant
 4    contributions to their communities and this State; and
 5        WHEREAS, The Orland Park Lions Club is one  such  service
 6    organization, dedicated to supporting scholarships, community
 7    organizations, and services for the blind; and
 8        WHEREAS,  The  Lions  Club holds four fund-raising events
 9    throughout the year, which include Orland Days, Haunted Wood,
10    Christmas tree sales, and a benefit dinner; and
11        WHEREAS, Recently the Orland Park Lions Club  distributed
12    the  proceeds  from  1996 to the following organizations: the
13    American Cancer Society, the Boy Scouts of  Calumet  Council,
14    Camp Lions, Camp Quality of Illinois, the Chicago Lighthouse,
15    the   Community  Center  Foundation,  the  Chicagoland  Radio
16    Information Service, the Crisis Center for South Suburbs, the
17    Elim Christian School, the Illinois Burn Camp,  the  Juvenile
18    Diabetes  Foundation, the Lions District 1-A Circus Fund, the
19    Lions of Illinois Eye Research Center, the Lions of  Illinois
20    Foundation,  the  Metropolitan Family Services Southwest, the
21    Misericordia   Family   Association,   (Consolidated   School
22    District 230) Operation  Snowball,  the  Orland  Park  Public
23    Library,  the  Orland  Township  Food  Pantry,  the Park Lawn
24    Association, Recording for the Blind, the Salvation Army, the
25    Shady Oaks Camp, and Special Olympics; and
26        WHEREAS, The Melvin Jones Award  was  presented  to  four
27    members  for their faithfulness and longevity with the Orland
28    Park Lions Club; those members were: Dave Smith,  Ken  Grahn,
29    Phil Saxton, and Arnold Schedin; and
30        WHEREAS,  This year's Orland Days Festival begins May 28,
31    1997 and culminates with the Orland Days Parade  on  June  1,

 1    1997; therefore, be it
 2        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
 3    NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we
 4    commend and applaud the members of the Orland Park Lions Club
 5    for their dedication to community service and their unselfish
 6    support of community organizations; and be it further
 7        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 8    presented to President Richard Nogal as an expression of  our
 9    respect and esteem.
