1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, High school sports are important to the
3 participants, as they fill their teenage memories with their
4 defeats and their triumphs; and
5 WHEREAS, Communities that harbor high school champions
6 also achieve a sense of victory when the winning team brings
7 home the trophy; this is true of St. Patrick High School and
8 the community around Austin and Belmont Streets in Chicago;
9 and
10 WHEREAS, St. Patrick's water polo team recently received
11 a first place trophy within the State; it is the first team
12 championship in any sport for the school; and
13 WHEREAS, The water polo team is coached by Marty Gibson;
14 Coach Gibson nervously watched as his team kept ahead of
15 their opponents, and then he watched in joy as they brought
16 home the win; and
17 WHEREAS, St. Patrick High School was founded in 1861 by
18 the Christian Brothers, just as Chicago was developing as a
19 major city; St. Patrick is a Catholic school founded for the
20 young men of Chicago; St. Patrick is dedicated to teaching
21 its young students about Christian maturity; and
22 WHEREAS, St. Patrick continues a tradition of excellence
23 by enjoying the water polo championship, and celebrating this
24 great win; therefore, be it
25 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
26 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
27 salute St. Patrick High School and their championship water
28 polo team; and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to St. Patrick High School with our sincere
