90_HR0250 LRB9007314KBkb 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 3 Representatives wish to convey their sympathies to the family 4 and friends of Katherine Augusta Dent Summers of East St. 5 Louis, Illinois; and 6 WHEREAS, Katherine Summers was born on St. Simons Island, 7 Georgia on April 3, 1910; her parents were Randolph Risley 8 and Marion Person Dent; while she was a youngster the family 9 moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she completed elementary and 10 high school; on August 27, 1929, she married Frank Summers 11 and together they moved to East St. Louis; and 12 WHEREAS, Katherine Summers professed faith in God and was 13 baptized into the Baptist Church of Peoria, Illinois; after 14 her move to East St. Louis she joined with St. Paul 15 Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her membership 16 for over fifty years; and 17 WHEREAS, Katherine Summers was a volunteer; her time was 18 spent helping others; Katherine Summers spent her time and 19 talents working with the East St. Louis Women's Club, 20 volunteering at the Old St. Philips Hospital in St. Louis, 21 Missouri and assisting at the Well Baby Clinic at the 22 Eastside Health District; she was a member of the Inter Se 23 Club and the Sewing Club; she enjoyed sewing and making 24 beautiful things to decorate her home; she also enjoyed 25 traveling with her husband; and 26 WHEREAS, Katherine Summers is survived by her daughter 27 and son-in-law, Katherine and Charles Tollett; her four 28 grandchildren, Lynn Tollett, Charles Tollett, Jr. and his 29 wife Vickie, Frank Summers Tollett, and Jeffrey Tollett and 30 his wife Trina; her three great grandchildren; several 31 nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it -2- LRB9007314KBkb 1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 3 mourn, along with her family and friends, the death of 4 Katherine Summers, and convey our sympathy to them in this 5 time of loss; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 7 presented to the family of Katherine Summers.
