1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to honor Jim Kijewski of Lansing,
4 Illinois; and
5 WHEREAS, Jim Kijewski has been the manager of the Lan-Oak
6 Park District Pool for thirty-seven years; on August 5, 1997
7 Jim will be honored with the day being named after him; this
8 day will be a celebration of the hard work and dedication
9 that Jim has given to his community; and
10 WHEREAS, Jim Kijewski has shown his efforts through the
11 daily schedule he keeps; Jim can be seen at the pool at 7
12 a.m., checking the water and shutting off the evening lights;
13 at 9:00 a.m. Jim is starting the Learn to Swim classes; at
14 noon he is coaching the swim team as they practice; from noon
15 to 1 p.m. Jim is working to make sure the senior members of
16 the community are enjoying their time in the pool; from 1:00
17 to 5:00 Jim can be seen running the pool, and again from 6:00
18 to 9:00 p.m.; after hours, Jim is always available to oversee
19 the parties, or to check the pool out one final time for the
20 day; from the beginning to the end of summer, Jim Kijewski,
21 or Coach K, can be counted on to be a part of the pool; and
22 WHEREAS, For a number of years Jim and his wife Joanne
23 have been a part of this community; together they have four
24 children: Vicki, Karen, Becky, and Kevin; they are the proud
25 grandparents of Megan and Bobby Koch and Allison Cosgrove;
26 Jim has been a teacher at Thornton Fractional South High
27 School for thirty-eight years, and plans to retire next year;
28 Jim is a member of the Lansing Old Timers, where he has
29 chaired the scholarship program; Jim has been an active
30 member of several Village of Lansing committees; Jim and
31 Joanne are members of the Lansing Methodist Church;

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 honor Jim Kijewski on his day: August 5, 1997; may he enjoy
4 his retirement, and know he always has a place to swim if he
5 so desires; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Jim Kijewski on August 5, 1997: Jim Kijewski Day
8 in Lansing, Illinois.
