1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Richard D. Wagner has been Executive Director of
3 the Illinois Board of Higher Education since July 1, 1980,
4 and will retire from that position in February of 1998; and
5 WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner has served with dedication and
6 distinction as a member of the Board of Higher Education
7 staff since 1969; and
8 WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner has had a good understanding of
9 higher education and State government; and
10 WHEREAS, Under his supervision, the Illinois Board of
11 Higher Education has played a prominent role in keeping the
12 Illinois colleges and universities among the best in the
13 nation; and
14 WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner has been known for his leadership in
15 the areas of accountability, service to students and
16 taxpayers, and the performance of higher education; and
17 WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner is known for his integrity, for being
18 forthright, honest and fair in his dealings with his
19 professional colleagues in the legislature and higher
20 education; and
21 WHEREAS, Dick Wagner has worked well with the members of
22 the Illinois General Assembly and the executive branch of
23 State government; and
24 WHEREAS, Dick Wagner, as a native of Illinois, has always
25 been a strong promoter of higher education, State government,
26 and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
27 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETIETH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
29 note with gratitude and honor the service of Dr. Richard D.
30 Wagner to the State of Illinois and extend our appreciation

1 and congratulations to Dick and his family for his many
2 contributions to and accomplishments for the people of
3 Illinois; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to Dr. Richard Wagner and his family.
